I’ve been having a great summer so far. The weather here has been beautiful almost every day and I’ve had the chance to relax as well as do so many fun things with my hubby and friends. I can’t even remember the last time I sat down and wrote a post so I thought I’d start again by posting a few pics of my vacation!
James and I started our summer holidays with a week long cruise in Alaska with Celebrity Cruises. It was such a wonderfully relaxing week. Ate way too much, drank way too much and had so much fun.
The day we left Vancouver it was at least 30 degrees out and they let us board the ship at 11am even though it wasn’t leaving until 4pm. We were of there first thing so we could enjoy the whole day on the ship, laying by the pool drinking mojitos. The first stop on the trip was Icy Strait Point, Alaska. While Icy Strait was very small, the scenery was just beautiful. Living in B.C., we’re already so lucky to be surrounded by gorgeous forests and mountains everyday, but this was just that much more spectacular being so far away from any big cities. Our cruise ship, the Celebrity Century, from the shores of Icy Straight Point. The next day we cruised past the Hubbard Glacier, it was so beautiful it’s hard to find words that do it justice.James and I at the bow of the boat taking in the Hubbard Glacier.Another day at sea enjoying a drink in the sun on our veranda, of course with some afternoon snacks. The second stop we had was Juneau, Alaska. There we had booked a whale watching tour to see humpback whales.
This was absolutely the highlight of the entire trip. We booked with Harv and Marv’s Outback Alaska and I would definitely recommend them to anyone heading to Juneau. We booked independently from the cruise ship and I’m so glad we did. We ended up on a small boat with only 6 other passengers and two guides. It was perfect!
We spent two hours on the water watching a group of humpback whales bubble net feeding and even saw a group of porpoises. It was a spectacular sight! On the way back to the cruise ship, the bus driver was nice enough to make a quick stop at the Mendenhall Glacier, another gorgeous sight. The last port of the trip was Ketchikan, Alaska. We spent our time at this port mostly just walking around and enjoying the town. We made sure to stop for some delicious king crab legs with Alaskan brewed beer!
This entire was so amazing, if you ever get the chance, take this trip, you won’t be disappointed. And if you’re not from Vancouver, make sure you take some time to see that beautiful city too!
I was lucky enough to have two more weeks off spent stay-cationing (is that a word?) at home. I couldn’t have asked for a better holiday.
I got to spend so much time reading in the sun on my patio.
You gotta love the views.
Gardening in my community vegetable garden.
It did so well this year.
And celebrating my 30th birthday!
Now I’m back to the daily grind and will get back to cooking and posting more of my delicious recipes!
